One of the best perks of living in Calgary is easy access to some of Canada’s top restaurants . The restaurants here serve a broad variety of cuisine options for all tastes, so you’ll find something delightful no matter what you’re craving. You’ll find some of the best food available in the city by checking out some of the restaurants that are underrated, yet fantastic.

Ten Foot Henry

1209 1 St. S.W. – This restaurant features an open-kitchen concept, along with lots of wood, concrete, and marble making up the decor for a hip look, including a 10-foot woodcut figure in the dining room. The owners have taken an approach where they offer their customers choice vegetables they’d eat themselves at home. Some of the tasty contemporary options here include Gai Lan, tomatoes served with fresh herbs, whipped feta cheese, and sourdough bread, and yam tortilla with scallion.

Even though the decor is like something seen in a library, there is a distinct rock and roll atmosphere. Sample a selection of cocktails with names referencing British politicians such as Margaret Thatcher, Winston Churchill, and Tony Blair. Several British favourites appear on the menu, including black pudding, fish and chips, and Scotch eggs, all prepared with a signature style.

Anju

You can start off with an impressive choice of cocktails, beer, and wine, with spicy chicken wings. Some of the top dishes include oxtail tortellini with truffle oil, meat dishes with chili-infused gochujang sauce, and breakfast offerings like Asian pear pancakes.

Native Tongues Taqueria

235 12 Ave. S.W. – Native Tongues offers top Mexican dishes, with many selections grilled. This restaurant offers all-day taco specials on Tuesdays, piquing interest in the many other offerings. Some popular choices include appetizers of corn topped with mayo, queso, lime and cilantro, confit pork and white onion tacos and family-style grilled chicken. You can even order a burger, grilled to perfection.

Rouge

1240 8 Ave. S.E. – This delightful little restaurant brings regional French favourites to Calgary inside a restored Victorian house that offers plenty of old-fashioned charm. Rouge features a garden you can walk through where the owners grow fresh vegetables that are used in the dishes and they also have beehives! Some of the specialties include a duck breast with sunflower seed butter, shoulder steak with parsley root, and a tasty dessert option of corn brulee featuring bourbon peach and a husk meringue.

These restaurants offer some of the best quality dining in Calgary. With such a diverse range of foods to choose from, you’ll find some new favourites very quickly. Give these restaurants a try next time you want to eat out, and you won’t regret your choice.
