Trend Alert: Fall Fashion 2017

When I think about the fall season, I picture colourful leaves, pumpkin patches and flower pots brimming with chrysanthemums. But, most of all I think about the new fashions for fall! I always get excited as I dream about the coats, hats, sweaters, blouses and skirts designed for the cooler weather. Take a look at some of the latest fashion trends for fall of 2017.

Clothing for Work

This fall you’re going to be seeing more women wearing pantsuits. Look for pantsuits in light colours including pinks, blues, yellows and maybe even a Kelly green tossed into the mix. This trend features a straight or wide leg pant style. 

Burgundy is another colour emerging this fall. Pair a fitted burgundy jacket with flowy skirt and matching tights for work. Or, try pairing a burgundy pea coat with matching capris and a sweater following this deep colour theme. 

Clothing for School

Start off the fall semester at college on the right foot with a traditional plaid skirt paired with a mauve crew neck sweater and light-coloured turtleneck. Finish off your old-school, preppy ensemble with a pair of dark leather knee boots.

Try a trend made for your comfort this fall. A pair of roomy, plaid trousers and long-sleeved, plaid top. Make sure to pair up different plaids to add the proper amount of pizzazz to this fall outfit for college.

A brown or black velvet blazer is a stylish and versatile item to slip on to go out on errands. Loose-fitting velvet dresses are another trend to look for in the realm of casual clothing.

Outerwear

Beige, black or brown cocoon coats made in stadium cloth wool are a trend for outerwear this coming fall. Throw on an ankle length, glen plaid overcoat and you’ll be right on trend. Or, go with a belted wool trench featuring a checkered pattern to wear on those crisp fall evenings.

Clothing for a Formal Occasion

Do you have a wedding, gala, gallery opening or other formal event to attend this fall? If so, you can’t go wrong with gold. Clinging, silky floor length dresses with or without sleeves are all the rage this autumn. Lend your dress even more glamour with a pair of patent leather pumps featuring a ribbon adorning each ankle. 

Another trend in formal wear this fall is fringe. An ankle length dress in dusty rose or deep burgundy featuring several tiers of fringe can be a playful addition to your fall wardrobe. Pair a fringe dress with an elegant sandal and you have an ensemble that will be the hit of your next formal event.
